WORLD VIDEO STANDARDS

Video signals for broadcast and recording are not compatible among different regions of the world. Although media formats may be the same (a VHS tape in the US is the same as a VHS tape in Europe), the information on that media may be different. North America and Japan use the NTSC signal while Europe and many Pacific Rim countries use PAL. SECAM, the third major world video standard, is used in France, the countries of the former Soviet Union and much of the Middle East. If you buy a video from, or send a video to, a foreign land there is a chance that it will not play as desired.

At MediaLink, we can easily and quickly solve this common problem in today’s global economy. Below are a map and a list of the video standards for most countries of the world. If you don’t see the country listed that you are interested in, give us a call and we'll dig deeper for you.

Converting to different international standards is a very technically demanding process. Our simplest converters are 2 line/2 field and do an adequate job for most personally-shot travel and wedding videos, etc. We also have several 4 line/4 field converters that do professional quality conversions. Either way, we've got you covered.

Our simple conversions are done at the same price as our standard NTSC duplication, while our professional conversions are done at very competitive prices. Contact us for a quote or for more information.
